Design Concept
Canto de Luz in the centre of Porto has been reconfigured and its capacity extended as part of a comprehensive refurbishment and relaunch as an urban retreat.
Our involvement started at concept stage with the task of finding and unlocking hidden potential, with an emphasis on a vacant basement below the courtyard and the former owners’ apartment.
Design Solution
A former house at the rear of the site has been extended to become a private villa with its own garden and pool, a tranquil oasis in the centre of the bustling city.
The basement below the courtyard has been opened up to create a sunken private patio, which is now the heart of a new suite of rooms forming a self-contained apartment.
